Hi everyone ! Hope you had a great weekend.
I’m really happy to finally share my piece for Light Grey Art Lab’s 6 Degrees show.
Our brief was to create a little slice of life of our city. Over the last six months I’ve been taking trapeze and aerial hoop lessons over at Center of Gravity. I’ve had the pleasure of getting involved with the amazing circus community there. The top pose (stag) is based on one Andrea was doing at one of our practice sessions. She actually held it for me while I did a few rough sketches of her. Gazelle was one of the first moves I learned on trapeze. For this sketch I used my teacher Jessie as reference. And finally Scorpion was one of the first poses I learned on aerial hoop. I used myself as reference for this one. Still can’t quite touch my foot to my head, but I’m getting there ! My goal is to perform by my next birthday (my last birthday was actually my first class so it will be a year by then).
You can buy prints of my piece here, as well as the wonderful work of all the other artists involved. Really, have a look. There are some really beautiful pieces and it’s so interesting to get a peek at people’s lives.
